Sooooooooooooooooooo… ladies let’s have a chat.
We all love giving and receiving compliments every now and then but when did every compliment we give or receive become solely based on appearance?
Now I’m not saying let’s ban the “you’re really pretty”, “I love your shoes”, “your hair looks perfect today” type of compliments because who doesn’t love to hear those, right? I’m just saying let’s move away from the your hair looks sexy pushed back compliments @AaronSamuels and focus on the compliments that highlight the more important things.
We live in a society that still teaches girls at a young age that our physical attributes are the most defining traits we have to offer the world and we contribute to that idea by giving our family and friends appearance focused compliments. When I think back at every compliment I’ve ever received it was the unexpected and the observational compliment that stuck with me, but I get it. Compliments can be hard to give when you’re not just describing what you visually see. Why? Because it’s what we’re use to. So, I made a list.
